|What do you think about buying unimproved land as an investment? I'd like to buy some acreage in East Texas piney woods.

|I'm not an expert in this, so please take this with a grain of salt. I can tell you that there are some common misconceptions here. For one, some people think the world is running out of farmland. You could research this further, but I think this is far from the truth. From my limited understanding, technological improvements have made farming more productive and the amount of land required is actually shrinking. Another misconception is that population growth is or will be much faster than experts actually forecast. You can easily find US population forecasts online, I think you'll find we're not in danger of crowding each other out. Of course, there are many reasons why this might be a good investment for you, just wanted to start with some of the misconceptions here.
