I don't know or care to know how to value companies. I have a good chunk of money sitting in a savings account, but would like to grow it better. I'm not very trusting of financial advisors. Is there a simple investment for someone like me? Thanks.

Upmyinterest recommended VXUS and VT in the "our stock picks" page under resources. I also think those are good picks for someone in your situation, if you have time and can stomach a potential drop in equities, which is always lingering.

Check out "target retirement funds." They vary by retirement date, roughly meaning the date when you would need the money. These include bonds in addition to stocks, but probably not a lot of bonds, less the further out the retirement date you choose.
